This module introduces students to key principles of scientific programming. Successful students understand the importance of programming in environmental sciences. They are familiar with the fundamental principles and different programming paradigms. They show proficiency in identifying and formulating problems to be solved by own software. They are able to solve simple data conversion, analysis and modeling problems. They know about basic principles of digital data processing. They show basic proficiency how hardware and software are related.
